Radio Handi is a great way to make meetings, conference proceedings and other events accessible to the public. Next time you're hosting a neighborhood association or town council meeting, you can use the service to telecast and archive your meeting.
Telecasting your event is as simple as putting a speakerphone on the lectern and dialing 712-432-7000 (standard toll charges apply, but otherwise it's a normal call). If you have a laptop and Internet connection, you can connect the microphone to your laptop, and then call toll-free via Gizmo Project (just dial email@example.com).
The public can listen in to your meeting by fetching your live MP3 feed at eavesdropper.radiohandi.com/your_group_number, or can call in to any other our local access numbers worldwide or via Gizmo to listen by telephone. You can also set your conference up so that callers can ask questions.
If you want to archive your public meetings, download a copy of StreamRipper. This free program will convert your live MP3 feed into an archived MP3 file that you can post on your website for offline playback or for distribution as a podcast. (We'll be adding an automatic archiving option to Radio Handi this summer as well).
That's all there is to it, so try Radio Handi for your next public meeting, and please spread the word.
